High School Head Coach J.T. Curtis Reaches 600 Career Victories

History was made Friday night when John Curtis (Louisiana) head football coach J.T. Curtis became the second high school football coach ever to win 600 career games.

Curtis achieved the milestone with a 37-16 win over Archbishop Shaw.

With a lifetime record of 600-72-6, Curtis sits behind the late John McKissick from South Carolina, who recorded 621 wins. He sits second on the list of high school football's winningest coaches

Several other high school football coaches reached milestones earlier this year.

In Virginia, Mike Smith of Hampton High School became the third coach behind McKissick and Curtis to reach 500 lifetime victories.

Alan Chadwick of Marist in Georgia and Dudley Hilton of Bell County in Kentucky reached 400 wins last month.

Below, listen to J.T. Curtis talk with High School Football America’s Jeff Fisher about the historic win, the coaching profession and starting his career with an 0-10 season.
