Podcast: NFL Legend Deion Branch Joins the High School Coaching Ranks

It took some convincing for NFL Legend Deion Branch to get into coaching.

But Carmel High School (Indiana) head coach John Hebert persuaded the former wide receiver to take a positon on his staff.

Branch, a native of Albany, Georgia, played 12 seasons in the NFL for the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks. He helped the Patriots to consecutive Super Bowl victories, and was named Super Bowl XXXIX Most Valuable Player after securing 11 catches for 133 yards to beat the Philadelphia Eagles.

At Carmel, located in the Indianapolis suburbs, Branch will coach the Greyhounds' wide receivers and special teams. Branch spoke with High School Football America’s Jeff Fisher about what brought him into the coaching profession and why he was nervous in his first game as an assistant coach.
