High School 2020 Season Plans

Due to COVID-19, many state high school athletics associations are considering changes to their football schedules this fall. While information is subject to change, below is a list of the states’ plans for the upcoming football season as of October 1. Check with your local high school association for more information. States marked in red have moved their seasons to spring 2021.

The football season is moved to spring 2021.

New Mexico has moved its football season to spring 2021.

New York has postponed its high school football season until spring 2021.

The regular season is underway.

Oregon

Oregon has moved its football season to spring 2021.

Pennsylvania

The Philadelphia Public League and Philadelphia Catholic League postponed all fall sports until spring 2021. 

Rhode Island

Rhode Island's football season is postponed until the spring semester.

South Carolina

The regular season is underway.

South Dakota

The regular season is underway.

Tennessee

The regular season is underway.

Texas

The regular season for UIL schools is underway.

Utah

The regular season is underway.

Vermont

Vermont's 7-on-7 football season is underway. 

Virginia

The football season has been postponed until spring 2021.

Washington

The football season has been postponed until spring 2021.

West Virginia

The regular season is underway.

The regular season is underway.

The regular season is underway.

Other Youth Football Leagues

  • American Youth Football (AYF) – AYF leagues are currently operating and following guidelines established by state and local governments.
  • Pop Warner – Pop Warner leagues have implemented Return to Play (RTP) guidelines for leagues to start practice and begin competition. State and local guidelines take precedence over the phased approached of the RTP guidelines, and some regions, leagues or associations will be allowed to progress more rapidly than others.
