Corner Canyon Leads Preseason HSFA Utah Top 10 Rankings

There’s a change at the top of the Corner Canyon program, but there’s no change in the expectations for the Chargers, who have dominated Utah high school football for the last eight years. Head coach Eric Kjar has moved on to become the head coach at Weber State, but the Chargers have brought back Casey Sutera, who served as the team’s defensive coordinator from 2017 through 2021, as their new head coach.

Corner Canyon starts the season at the top of the High School Football America Utah Top 10, powered by NFL Play Football. The Chargers have won six state championships since 2018.

Lone Peak begins the year at No. 2 in the state rankings after an 8-5 campaign. The Knights are ranked No. 135 nationally.

Just behind Lone Peak is Skyridge at No. 3. The Falcons finished 9-3 a year ago and earned the No. 144 spot in the preseason HSFA 300, giving Utah three teams inside the national Top 150.

Lehi checks in at No. 4, followed by American Fork at No. 5. All five teams are inside the HSFA 300 national rankings.

Orem opens the season at No. 6 after an impressive 12-2 campaign. While the Tigers narrowly missed the preseason HSFA 300, they earned recognition in the HSFA On the Bubble rankings, placing them among the nation’s next 100 teams between No. 301 and No. 400.

Davis is No. 7 after finishing 10-2 last season. The Darts also landed in the HSFA On the Bubble rankings and will once again be among the favorites to contend deep into the postseason.

One of the state’s biggest success stories from last season is Ridgeline, which posted a perfect 14-0 record and captured the 4A state championship. The Riverhawks begin 2026 at No. 8 in Utah and are also included in the HSFA On the Bubble rankings as they look to prove last year’s dominance was no fluke.

Mountain Ridge sits at No. 9, followed by West, which rounds out the Top 10.
