HSFA Releases 2026 Preseason Nevada Top 10 High School Football Rankings
Nevada’s 2026 high school football season once again runs through Las Vegas, as Bishop Gorman opens the season atop the High School Football America Nevada Top 10 high school football rankings, powered by NFL Play Football. The Gaels, who haven’t fallen out of the No. 1 spot in HSFA’s statewide rankings since 2019, are loaded for another run at a possible HSFA national championship.
Gorman starts the year at No. 2 in our national rankings, looking for its first High School Football America national title since 2016. The Gaels will be tested on August 21 when they meet preseason No. 1 St. John Bosco (California), winner of two HSFA national crowns.
The last time Gorman played Bosco was during its national championship run in 2016, when the Gaels beat the Braves 35-20. It will be the third meeting between the national powerhouses. BG also beat Bosco 35-31 in their 2014 meeting.
Gorman has won 15 of the last 16 Nevada state championships in the state’s largest classification.
Nevada high school football will have a significantly different look this year after the Clark County School District decided to pull out of the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA). The 30 district schools will play independently and won’t be able to take part in the NIAA playoffs. The move is seen as a boycott of Gorman by the Las Vegas schools.
Coming in second behind Bishop Gorman in our statewide rankings, created with our proprietary algorithm, is Arbor View. Faith Lutheran is No. 3, followed by Bishop Manogue at No. 4 and Liberty at No. 5.
Liberty, one of the Clark County schools playing separately from the NIAA for the next two years, is the last school to hold the No. 1 spot in the Nevada Top 10, winning the 2019 5A state championship.
