Izell Reese on the Future of Flag Football
In the ever-evolving landscape of youth sports, few organizations have made as significant an impact as RCX Sports, based in Roswell, Georgia, an Atlanta suburb. As the official operator of NFL FLAG, RCX has been instrumental in transforming flag football from a niche activity into a nationwide phenomenon, engaging well over a half-million young athletes across the United States.
NFL FLAG, the NFL's official youth flag football program, oversees the fast-paced, non-contact, and inclusive version of American football. Flag football is designed to emphasize skill development, speed, and safety.
Under RCX's stewardship, the program has seen explosive growth, particularly in recent years. RCX handles everything from league operations and event management to community outreach, ensuring that NFL FLAG leagues are available in diverse settings, from urban recreation centers to suburban parks.
One of RCX's key roles is fostering strategic partnerships to broaden access to the sport that will debut in the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
Izell Reese, a seven-year NFL veteran who played safety for the Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos and Buffalo Bills, brings a personal passion to RCX Sports. Reese founded the company in 2019 and serves as its CEO.
Below, High School Football America's Jeff Fisher chats with Reese, who takes a deep dive into RCX's impact across many youth sports and the future of NFL FLAG.
