NFL and TMRW Sports Create New Annual Pro Flag Showcase to Kick Off Super Bowl LXI Week Festivities

The NFL and TMRW Sports announced a new annual Pro Flag Showcase to open Super Bowl week. Set for Super Bowl LXI week in Los Angeles, the showcase will spotlight stars of the professional flag football league the two organizations are building together, featuring the world's top players and the skills that have helped make flag football one of the fastest-growing sports in recent years.

"With the spotlight that comes with Super Bowl week, the Pro Flag Showcase provides an opportunity to feature the athletes and highest level of competition driving flag football's future," said Brian Flinn, NFL senior vice president, global flag football. "Flag football's momentum continues to accelerate around the world, and bringing many of the sport's top players together is a powerful way to highlight the speed, athleticism and excitement of the game to football fans worldwide."

"We're thrilled to introduce sports fans to many of the top flag football players in the world as we prepare to launch the new professional league in partnership with the NFL," said Brendan Donohue, TMRW Sports president, flag football. "The Pro Flag Showcase will be our first opportunity to elevate the sport, from its fast-paced format to the unprecedented broadcast access that will draw fans in and educate them on the unique and exciting sport of flag football."

The showcase will be staged at a custom-built venue in Los Angeles, with a live broadcast pairing pro-level competition with storytelling that brings the sport's strategy and style to life. NFL Pro Bowlers, Hall of Famers and other legends will serve as advocates for the sport and its athletes, helping raise the event's profile as part of Super Bowl week.

The NFL and TMRW Sports previously announced plans for a new professional flag football league, launching ahead of the sport's Olympic debut at the Los Angeles 2028 Games. The league will play in the first stadium purpose-built for flag football, pairing fast, elite-level competition with a tech-forward, data-driven presentation designed to bring fans closer to the game's speed and athleticism. It's also the capstone of a fast-growing pipeline: youth, high school, college, international and Olympic flag football now lead up to a professional option for both women and men.

The league's investor group is a broad one — all 32 NFL club owners, institutional and strategic investors, and current and former NFL players — a sign of confidence in the sport's growth and rising global profile.

More than 20 million people play flag football worldwide, and participation keeps climbing at every level. In the U.S. alone, roughly 4.1 million youth now play — up more than 50% since 2020. The sport is offered in high schools in 40 states, and the number of young women playing on high school teams grew nearly 60% from 2024 to 2025. More than 250 colleges and universities now field women's flag football programs, and the NCAA has approved flag football under its Emerging Sports for Women program; at its spring meeting, the NCAA voted to recommend that Divisions I, II and III add a National Collegiate Flag Football Championship as early as spring 2028.
