Preseason HSFA 100 Public High School Football Rankings 2026

Now that the High School Football America 300 preseason rankings, powered by NFL Play Football, are out, it's time breakdown the public and private schools.

Like all HSFA’s rankings, this ranking is based on HSFA’s proprietary rankings algorithm. Overall, 209 of the HSFA 300 teams are public schools.

Leading the way is Georgia's Buford, which finished as the top public school in 2025. Last season's 6A champ is ranked No. 5 overall in HSFA’s Preseason 100 national rankings. Falling in behind the Wolves at No. 2 is Carrollton, the team they beat for the Georgia 6A state championship.

Overall, Texas leads the way with 24 schools in the Public Schools 100, followed by Florida with 18 teams and Georgia with 16 teams.
