St. John Bosco’s Jason Negro Talks About Preseason No 1 Ranking in HSFA 100

Two-time High School Football America national champ St. John Bosco (Bellflower, California) enters the 2026 high school football season ranked No. 1 in the Preseason High School Football America 100, powered by NFL Play Football. The Braves under Coach Negro, who is an alum of the Bellflower school, have been regulars in the national championship chase since 2013.

When Negro took over the program in 2010, Bosco wasn’t having a lot of success. It only took him a couple of years to become a force in the ultra-tough Trinity League, one of the best high school football leagues in America. For the fourth year in a row, all six Trinity League teams are ranked in the HSFA 300 national rankings that are created with a proprietary algorithm.

Coach Negro’s success is based in building a family atmosphere within the program. Many of his assistant coaches have been with him during his 17-year reign.

Below, Coach Negro talks with High School Football America’s Jeff Fisher about the strength of this year’s team that features plenty of P4 college prospects and a roster that features 20 HSFA Academic All-Americans.

Negro also talks about Bosco’s big season opener that will be against Preseason No. 2 Bishop Gorman, winners of 15 of the last 16 Nevada state championships in the state’s largest classification.
