Trinity Leads the 2026 High School Football America Kentucky Top 10
Defending Class 6A state champion Trinity opens the 2026 season at No. 1 in the High School Football America Kentucky Top 10, powered by NFL Play Football. The Shamrocks finished 13-2 in 2025, capped by the school’s 30th overall state championship.
Trinity enters the new season ranked No. 51 nationally in the High School Football America 100, making the Shamrocks the highest-ranked team in the Bluegrass State.
Joining Trinity in the national rankings is Boyle County. The Rebels, who finished 14-1 in 2025 and won the Class 4A state title, begin the year at No. 273 in the HSFA 300, created with HSFA’s proprietary algorithm.
The remainder of Kentucky’s Top 10 features a strong collection of programs coming off successful 2025 seasons.
St. Xavier, Trinity’s arch-rival, starts the season at No. 3 after a 10-4 campaign that ended in the Class 6A state semifinals. South Warren checks in at No. 4 following a 13-1 season that ended with a runner-up finish in the Class 6A championship game.
Frederick Douglass opens at No. 5 after finishing 8-5 last season. Covington Catholic is ranked No. 6 after posting a 9-4 record, while Louisville’s duPont Manual comes in at No. 7 following a 9-3 season.
Owensboro, the defending Class 5A state champion, begins the year at No. 8 after a 13-2 season. Highlands, one of Kentucky’s most tradition-rich football programs, is No. 9 after finishing 10-3, while Ryle rounds out the preseason rankings at No. 10 following a 10-4 campaign.
