Interview: Bill Jacklin 2024 Don Shula NFC Coach of the Year Award Winner
Bill Jacklin is a lifer in Slinger, Wisconsin. He calls being the high school football head coach in his hometown his “dream job.”
Earlier this year, Jacklin was named the 2024 Don Shula NFL National High School Coach of the Year for the NFC. He was nominated by the Green Bay Packers after they named him their Coach of the Year.
Last season, Jacklin and the Slinger Owls completed their undefeated season by bringing home the school’s second state football title. They finished No. 1 in the High School Football America Wisconsin Top 10 high school football rankings.
Jacklin graduated from Slinger High School in 1988 and accepted the head coaching position at his alma mater before the 2011 season. In addition to coaching football, Jacklin is a 4th grade teacher at Addison Elementary School. Coach Jacklin has three sons, Marshall, Andrew and Chase.
Below, Jacklin talks with High School Football America’s Jeff Fisher about the thrill of attending the Super Bowl and Pro Bowl to celebrate winning the Shula Award.
