Podcast: Former IMG Coach Bobby Acosta Talks About JC Latham and JJ McCarthy in High School
In 2020, IMG Academy won the High School Football America national championship with Bobby Acosta at the helm of the Ascenders. Acosta, who spent only one year as the head coach in Bradenton, Florida, joins the High School Football America’s Jeff Fisher to discuss two players from that team — offensive tackle JC Latham and quarterback J.J. McCarthy — being drafted in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Latham was selected at No. 7 by the Tennessee Titans. McCarthy was draft at No. 10 by the Minnesota Vikings. It was the first time that a high school had two players taken in the first ten picks.
Gonzaga (Washington, DC) also had two players taken in the first round — Caleb Williams at overall No. 1 by the Chicago Bears and offensive tackle Olu Fashanu was taken at No. 11 by the New York Jets.
