Two Former NFL Players to be Inducted into NFHS National High School Hall of Fame
The NFHS National High School Hall of Fame will induct former NFL players Prince Amukamara and Tim Dwight later this year as part of the Class of 2025.
Prince Amukamara, who won a Super Bowl ring with the New York Giants, and Tim Dwight, who played with the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl XXXIII, will be inducted on June 30 in Chicago. The NFHS HOF honors high school athletes, coaches, contest officials, administrators, performing arts coaches/directors and others for their extraordinary achievements and accomplishments in high school sports and performing arts programs.
Amukamara was an outstanding three-sport (football, basketball, track and field) athlete at Apollo High School in Glendale, Arizona. A two-way star on the gridiron, the Giants’ first round 2011 NFL Draft, was the Arizona Republic’s Big School Player of the Year, after rushing for 2,106 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns. On defense, he recorded 95 tackles with two interceptions as the team’s defensive back.
During his 9-year NFL career, Amukamara recorded 477 tackles with ten interceptions. He was a member of the Giants Super Bowl XLVI championship team.
Dwight, who was selected in the fourth round of the 1998 NFL Draft by the Falcons, was a football and track and field standout at City High School in Iowa City, Iowa.
On the football field, he led City High to a 1993 state championship, scoring four touchdowns in the title game. City had a 23-1 record during Dwight’s final two seasons.
He won twelve gold medals in track and field while leading City three consecutive Iowa High School Athletic Association team championships. Dwight won the 200-meter title four times (1991-94), the long jump three times (1992-94) and took the 400-meter hurdles title in 1992. He also won four gold medals as part of the school’s relay teams.
In the NFL, Dwight was a wide receiver and return specialist for 10 seasons. He’s remembered for his 94-yard touchdown kickoff return in Super Bowl XXXIII against the Denver Broncos.
