Rob Hummel Named NFL Youth Coach of the Week by the Las Vegas Raiders
After leading Spanish Springs to the school's first-ever Nevada high school football state championship and a perfect season, Las Vegas Raiders head coach Rob Hummel has been honored as their 2025 Tom Flores Coach of the Year. Raiders legend Robert Gallery surprised Coach Hummel with the award during a ceremony at the school.
Spanish Springs captured the 5A championship with a 42-23 victory over Faith Lutheran at Allegiant Stadium—home of the Raiders—on November 25. The win capped a perfect 13-0 season for the Cougars, who finished No. 4 in the High School Football America Nevada Top 10 high school football rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.
Coach Hummel is also a finalist for the prestigious Don Shula NFL High School Coach of the Year Award. Hummel and 31 other Shula Award finalists are evaluated based on the character traits Coach Shula exemplified during his legendary career: character, integrity, leadership, dedication to community, commitment to player health and safety, and on-field success.
The National Football League will recognize one winner from each conference—AFC and NFC—representing regions near NFL clubs.
Below, Coach Hummel talks with High School Football America's Jeff Fisher about being surprised by Gallery and the honor of being named the team's Coach of the Year.
