2025 Preseason HSFA North Carolina Top 10 High School Football Rankings

Grimsley begins 2025 as the top team in the High School Football America North Carolina Top 10 high school football rankings, powered by NFL Play Football. The Whirlies are also dreaming of a national championship, entering the season ranked No. 31 in the HSFA 300 national rankings.

That dream will be tested right away, as Grimsley faces No. 10 West Charlotte in a battle of 2024 state champs. The Whirlies, who captured last year’s 4A title, will take on the 3A champs in the Carolina Panthers’ Keep Pounding High School Classic.

No. 6 Hough joins Grimsley and West Charlotte at Bank of America Stadium for the Panthers’ high school football event, where the Huskies will face South Carolina’s South Pointe.

No. 2 Providence Day also has a significant interstate matchup to kick off the season. The Chargers, ranked No. 61 nationally, will square off against Pennsylvania’s Roman Catholic, who enters at No. 151 in America.

Weddington starts at No. 3, followed by Rolesville at No. 4. The Rams open their campaign against No. 7 Mallard Creek in the only intra-Top 10 matchup of the opening weekend.

Below is the full Top 10, created with HSFA’s proprietary algorithm.
