California's Trinity League Ranked Toughest in America in 2021

Southern California's Trinity League ranked as the toughest high school football league in America in 2021, according to High School Football America's proprietary algorithm.

Five of the six teams were ranked in the HSFA Top 200 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football. Mater Dei closed out the 2021 season with the school's third HSFA national championship in the last five years, while Servite (No. 6) and St. John Bosco (No. 8) also cracked the top 10.

The Washington Catholic Athletic Conference finished a close second, with three teams finish in the Top 100, led by conference champ St. John's College High School (Washington, D.C.) at No. 19. Good Counsel (Maryland) finished the season ranked No. 79, and arch-rival DeMatha (Maryland) finished at No. 84.

The United Red League in the North Jersey Super Conference was the third-toughest league in America last year, with four teams ranked in the Top 200 led by Non-Public A champ Bergen Catholic at No. 3.

The first public league in the HSFA rankings is Alabama's Region 3 in Class 7A. Three-time defending champ Thompson finished No. 14 in America last season, followed by Hoover at No. 31 and Hewitt-Trussville at No. 100.

Rounding out the top 5 is Cincinnati's Greater Catholic League South. Three of the league's four teams were nationally ranked, led by Archbishop Moeller at No. 78.
