Chaminade-Madonna Heads Final 2023 HSFA Florida Top 25 High School Football Rankings
After eight wins over teams in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, Chaminade-Madonna finishes the No. 1 team in our Florida Top 25 high school football rankings, powered by NFL Play Football. Also, the Lions, who won their third straight state title, came close to a national title, finishing No. 2 in America, just behind Southern California’s Mater Dei.
Overall, it was a great year of football across the Sunshine State with the top eight teams also finishing in our national Top 25 rankings.
Florida No. 2 IMG Academy was ranked No. 4 nationally. The Ascenders beat five HSFA 300 teams. Three of those teams — No. 7 St. Joseph’s Prep (Pennsylvania), No. 13 Ben Davis (Indiana) and No. 113 Glenville (Ohio) — won state championships.
No. 3 St. Thomas Aquinas won a state record fifth straight state championship in 2023. The Raiders finished No. 6 in America with their only loss coming in the season opener against No. 3 St. John Bosco (California).
Class 2S champ Cocoa checks in at No. 4 in the final statewide rankings, created with HSFA’s proprietary algorithm. The only loss for the Tigers, who finished No. 12 in the Top 300, came against St. Thomas Aquinas.
After an 8-2 regular season, Berkeley Prep shocked everyone by winning the state’s uber-tough Class 2M state championship. The Buccaneers’ first-ever state football championship lands the program at No. 5 in the state and No. 19 nationally.
2M runner-up Norland finishes at No. 6, followed by Miami Central at No. 7, 4S state champ Lakeland at No. 8, 4M state champ Miami Columbus at No. 9 and Venice at No. 10.
