Four Nevada High School Football Champs Crowned at Allegiant Stadium

Eight Nevada high school football teams got the thrill of a lifetime last week when they played for a 2023 state championship at Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders.

It was the third year in a row that the Raiders have hosted a portion of the state's championship games.

"The NIAA's membership and participating student-athletes, coaches and contest officials are sincerely appreciative of the Raiders' commitment to excellence of Nevada high school football," said Donnie Nelson, Executive Director of the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA). "The NIAA and its statewide corporate partners are about creating positive and memorable experiences for our student-athletes. To have our state's professional football organization step up like this and provide a first-class experience for one of our education-based activities shows how invested the Raiders are to our community."

On the field, Bishop Gorman, ranked No. 2 in the High School Football America 100 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football, won its 13th state title in the last 14 years with a 56-11 win over No. 161 Liberty.

The Class 5A Division II title game, Bishop Manogue beat Faith Lutheran 40-21. It’s Manogue’s first state championship since 2003.

Centennial won its first-ever state championship. The Bulldogs won the 4A title with a 49-31 win over Sunrise Mountain.

In 2A, Lake Mead Academy also won its first state crown. LMA beat Pershing County 49-6 behind six touchdown passes from quarterback Jerry Meyer. The freshman QB finishes 2023 with 58 TDs, a new state record.

Allegiant Stadium is home to a permanent installation that honors Nevada high school football. The Battle Born large display houses the helmets of 96 NIAA teams, courtesy of the Raiders and Intermountain Healthcare.
