HSFA Top 100: The Son of a 2020 Hall of Famer Leads His Team Into the Week 2 Rankings

Eden James is following in his father’s footsteps.

The 5-10, 180-pound running back — and son of 2020 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Edgerrin James ran for 267 yards and two touchdowns for Treasure Coast (Port St. Lucie, Florida) in a 29-21 upset of defending Florida 5A champ American Heritage.

Eden James currently has nine college scholarship offers, including from the University of Miami (his dad’s alma mater) and all three military academies. And his big night helped Treasure Coast break into the Week 2 High School Football America 100, powered by NFL Play Football. The team entered the Week 2 rankings at No. 61, after being ranked No. 149 after Week 1.

American Heritage (Plantation, Florida), coached by NFL Legend Patrick Surtain, entered the game ranked No. 15. But after the upset, American Heritage slipped to No. 64 in Week 2's rankings.

In addition to Treasure Coast, there are four other new teams in the Top 100.

Atlanta's Westlake High School jumped from No. 161 to No. 63 after a hard-fought road win against former No. 38 Colquitt County (Georgia).

Georgia's North Cobb climbed 38 spots to No. 72 this week after beating former No. 43 Milton (Georgia) on national television Friday night.

Bartram Trail (Florida) rose 13 spots to No. 98 this week. The Bears will test that ranking against No. 36 Columbus (Miami, Florida) on Friday.

Auburn High (Alabama) also entered the rankings at No. 99 after being ranked No. 109 last week.

Aside from the Bartram Trail/Columbus matchup, there are eleven other head-to-head HSFA 100 matchups this weekend.
