Interview: Gonzaga’s Randy Trivers Talks About Caleb Williams and Olu Fashanu Being Taken in First Round of NFL Draft
Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C. is still buzzing about having two former players being taken in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Randy Trivers coached quarterback Caleb Williams, taken overall No. 1 by the Chicago Bears, and offensive tackle Olu Fashanu, selected at No. 11 by the New York Jets, during their scholastic days in the nation’s capitol.
Both players took different routes to the NFL. Williams was a highly-touted 5-star college football prospect during his days with the Eagles. Fashanu never played football until his freshman year at Gonzaga.
In 2018, when Williams was a sophomore and Fashanu was a junior, the pair led the school to its first Washington Catholic Athletic Conference championship in sixteen years.
During an interview (below) with High School Football America’s Jeff Fisher, Coach Trivers talks about how each player improved during their time with the Eagles and why the Bears and Jets are getting two high-quality individuals.
