Interview: NFL Legend Cassius Vaughn Talks About Being the Head Coach at His Alma Mater, Memphis East
Cassius Vaughn never doubted that he’d get into the coaching profession after his playing days. The NFL Legend, who played in the National Football League from 2010 through 2015, is in his second season as the head coach at his alma mater, Memphis East High School in Tennessee.
During his interview (below) with High School Football America’s Jeff Fisher, Vaughn said his love of coaching began during his high school days when his defensive coordinator was former NFL defensive back Marcus Wimberly.
Even during his playing days, Vaughn would return to East to help out the coaching staff and players whenever he was in town.
Vaughn’s NFL career began in 2010 as an undrafted free agent with the Denver Broncos. During his six-year NFL career, he also played for the Indianapolis Colts, Detroit Lions, Baltimore Ravens and San Diego Chargers.
In 69 games, Vaughn returned two of his seven interceptions for touchdowns. He finished his career with 143 tackles, 125 of which were solo.
