NFL Legend Corey Jenkins To Coach His High School Alma Mater

Corey Jenkins, a former 3-star athlete at Dreher High School in Columbia, South Carolina, is returning home. The former Miami Dolphins and Chicago Bears linebacker was named as the head coach of the Dreher Blue Devils in late February.

The road back to Dreher had many twists and turns for Jenkins, who started his professional career in baseball. He was the 24th overall selection in the 1995 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft. He signed with the Boston Red Sox and played four years in the minors. He rose to Double-A baseball, before deciding to return to football.

After playing two years of JUCO football, Jenkins returned home to play for South Carolina under Lou Holtz. With the Gamecocks, Jenkins played quarterback, running back, safety, and linebacker.

Jenkins played two years with the Dolphins before closing out his NFL career with the Chicago Bears in 2004.

Below, Coach Jenkins talks with High School Football America’s Jeff Fisher about his journey from baseball to the NFL to high school football head coach.
