NFL Legend Jacquez Green Named Buccaneers High School Coach of the Week

Manatee High School head coach and NFL Legend Jacquez Green is the Week 2 winner of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers High School Coach of the Week Award.

Green, a former NFL wide receiver and punt returner, has his team off to a 3-0 start after Friday night’s 48-17 win over Charlotte.

Green became head coach at Manatee in 2021. Prior to that, he spent 15 years patiently working his way through the high school coaching ranks, serving as an offensive coordinator at five different schools.

Manatee High School will receive a $2,000 grant from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Foundation to help maintain and upgrade their football program.

A 1998 second-round pick, Green played six seasons in the NFL for the Buccaneers, Detroit Lions, and Washington Football Team.

The 1999 season was Green's most productive campaign, with 56 catches for 791 yards and three touchdowns for the Buccaneers. He finished his professional career with 162 total receptions for 2,311 yards and 7 TDs. He was also a key special teamer, returning 76 punts and 24 kickoffs during his NFL career and scoring on two punt returns.

Below, you can hear Green discuss his coaching path with High School Football America's Jeff Fisher in a video from 2021.
