Texas High School Football Leads the Way in Latest High School Football America 100 National Rankings

Eighteen Texas high school football teams are ranked in the latest High School Football America 100 national rankings. Coming in behind the Lone Star State is Florida with sixteen teams in the Top 100, followed by Ohio with twelve and Georgia with ten teams.

Two-time defending Texas state champ North Shore (Houston, Texas) is currently the No. 1 team in the nation. North Shore, which has won the last two Texas Class 6A Division I state championships, currently has five former players who played in the National Football League during the 2020 Season Kickoff weekend. They were Dorance Armstrong (Dallas Cowboys), K’Lavon Chaisson (Jacksonville), Emeke Egbule (Los Angeles Chargers), Trey Hopkins (Cincinnati) and Jamal Perry (Miami Dolphins).

The biggest change in the latest rankings is near the top after former No. 5 St. Thomas Aquinas was upset by No. 89 Cardinal Gibbons in a battle for bragging rights in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. STA, which began the 2020 season with 11 former players on NFL rosters, the most in the league, falls ten spots to No. 15 this week after its 17-10 loss to the Gibbons, which climbs to No. 12 in the latest rankings.

Below is the High School Football America 100 ranking through October 25, 2020. The rankings are created with High School Football America’s proprietary algorithm that has been used to rank teams nationally, regionally and on a statewide basis since 2013.
